Orientation & group dinner

Today was orientation day.   Meeting all the riders and getting to know them a bit and then hearing the logistics etc for the ride.

There are 2 guides and 13 riders, 1 cook who cooks out of the trailer and a sous chef.  We have riders from mostly the west coast but also Scotland, New Zealand and Canada.  Its going to be a fun, interesting ride in beautiful country.

As our group meetings didn't start until afternoon we did a bit of touring,   We went back to the Midway by the WWII iconic statue and there was a tribute to Bob Hope and his USO tours for the troops.  Here he is standing in front of military men.  You hear a recording of his jokes for the USO show.  Quite a tribute and so fitting.

More tomorrow after my first day of riding.
