Lone Pine to Bishop - Day 11

Mileage:  59
Total Ascent:  1868

So we really paid for our fabulous tailwinds yesterday.  Today was 59 miles of headwinds.  An easy day turned into a tough one.  Although the day was mostly head down fighting the winds there were some beautiful sights.   The mountains accompanied us pretty much of the day.  The mountains are beautiful and  can't help but think how wonderful it would be to wake up every morning to see these mountains.

Early this morning as the sun was rising.

We stopped at the Manzanar Historic sight.  This is the relocation Japanese center during the
World War II.  This is one of ten camps that housed 110,000 men, womeen and children.  The museum was closed so we could only take some outside pictures of the place but it gives you a sense of sadness for what the American Japanese people endured.

This is the tower overlooking the sight

People were housed in these barracks.  There were 504 barracks organized into 36 blocks but now there are only 3-4 of them.

Behind this fence made of tree limbs holds a basketball court.

Tomorrow is a day off so will take the time to add some photos of the group and give a glimpse into our every day on the road.
